How to choose a material for a laser-engraved gift

The material determines both the look and the price of an engraved gift. Let us go through the most popular ones and what they are suited for.

A personalised engraved gift always delights — a name, a date, a quote or a photo turns an ordinary item into a unique piece. The result, however, depends greatly on the material. Here is an overview of the most popular ones.

Wood

A classic with a warm look. Engraving on wood has beautiful contrast and suits plaques, stands, toys and chopping boards. Light-coloured hardwood gives a clean, sharp design.

Acrylic (Plexiglas)

A modern, clean look. Engraved acrylic stands out beautifully with LED backlighting — ideal for light panels, name tags and awards.

Leather

Elegant and durable. Engraving on leather suits wallets, belts, document holders and card holders. It has a premium feel.

Glass and slate

For glasses, bottles, coasters or decorative boards. The result is a delicate, matt design with an elegant feel.

Metal

We do not cut metal. We can mark metal — for example stainless steel or anodised aluminium — with the laser: engrave text, a logo or a serial number. This is ideal for labels, business cards and industrial markings.
